VilexPlague's News

I wish I started working with music and sound editing earlier in life, because I'd by now know better how to fix the kinks in what I should've posted sooner. So far, I've got 13 songs in varying amounts of progress. The issue for the majority of them is fixing the kinks such as the occasional issue of volume control (especially for percussion), fine tuning used frequencies in the case that the used sound font deals with frequency modulation.

Sorry if I kink shame my projects :(

Just making a disclaimer that I'm a nub at making posts and this one is really pointless

That's all I gotta say, unless I got time to play.

Going to give something sweet, fast (in tempo), and short. The confection comes after my binge of the Nuka World DLC in fallout and the fact that I felt like conflating the idea with a Halloween release since both can have sugary sweets.

I've got stuff done, but what's keeping me from uploading is my desire to fiddle around with the volume of my upcoming stuff. If you didn't guess from the subject, I'm trying to put a little more effort into each played note via volume, decay (whether there's a fade in or fade out), and trying not to go full volume with everything. I've tried in the past and only the final results will tell if I've made progress. Either way, thanks to whoever is reading this, personal work with music has and always will be an ongoing learning experience for me.

Calling it a deed that I finished two projects that were congruently being done with a few others (some scrapped and some still in progress), but I have in fact finished something else. If you somehow noticed (not likely), I got into the habit of doing stuff based on grim or dark subjects such as the 79 AD eruption of Vesuvius, and the 4th horsemen. I prolly should've mentioned that there were some pictures to go along with em too, but since it's not mine, I didn't feel too enthralled at the thought of putting the images on the cd icons (well, I did for one, but it was a royalty free version). Anyway, if it makes the two recent ones (Pliny's Account and Figure on Pale Horse), seem better check out (respectively) The Destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum by John Martin (and read Pliny's 2 letters about Pompeii for brownie points), and Death on a Pale Horse by Gustave Doré.

But now to more current stuff. Finished one other thing, based on speculation as to what The Wild Hunt may sound like, but I won't be uploading just yet for the sake of pacing stuff out. From there, I've got something in progress based on Bruno and Sylvie (though to be honest I only thought of what I was working on as sounding like some whimsical fairy tale thingy), the Children's Crusades, and um... Not sure what else really. Feel free to make a comment to make me grow a bigger ego (actually, just feedback or suggestions, I only want to improve, so don't go easy on me)

Disclaimer: These posts are mostly for me (for setting goals or something)

Finished the "Opera": which is titled Ennui Opera

Which can be found here: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/806955

And now my next project is something more on the metal/experimental side (who am I kidding, all my stuff is experimental). I've prepped myself already with some "sound templates" (things I'll use as instruments) in regards to guitar and bass, but I'll probably spend most setting up some sort of unique sound for percussion (sfx in this case) and drums (don't really need to explain I think). I'll probably use audacity for some mixing , cakewalk (hopefully), and beepbox for some if not all, the writing (because it's easy).

So far I've completed the:

Overture

1st part (with "singing" emulated via an FM synthesizer)

2nd part: A sort of interlude using some parts of the overture at a much slower pace which then transitions to a more mourful sound.

I tried to do what Nobuo Uematsu did with his Opera (for the vocals) in Final Fantasy 6 (known as FF3 to most Americans), until I realized that the Super Nintendo does something far different than FM (in some cases at least).

Bah!

Oh well, too bad so sad. In any case, I messed around with differeing tremolos and even tried using two different sound channels at once (briefly tried three, and quickly gave up on that effort). I didn't get anything too reminscent of what I heard from Uematsu's SNES "Draco and Maria," but I got something decent enough (though at times it sounds sorta like a synthed brass instrument).

And that's the update!

~toodles!!!

The Previous mentioned projects are being reworked in a "opera," I've finished the "overture," but I've not yet decided whether or not I'll upload the whole thing (Overture to the finale as one file), or in segments. In other words, once I've finished, I'll most likely have made up my mind.

P.S. I'm still working on other things, so I may or may not be releasing stuff in between.

P.S. (Part 2)- I take my time, so don't hold breath (speaking mostly to myself and maybe the few people that actually read these goofy posts)

            Sincerely, "Eni"

Currently doing work on two songs:

One with Blues elements

One that's mostly inspired by chimes you might hear when outside on a windy day

That's all

P.S.: Going to stop posting updates on the ongoing project with the last of the "big three" because it may never be done to my complete satisfaction
